Try not to drool, but beware: Netflix’s most delicious series, School of Chocolate, has hit screens. We caught up with the show’s students on Instagram.
Chocolate expert Amaury Guichon is on hand to lead the way, as he teaches eight competitors in the hopes of getting advice and convincing him.
Master pastry chefs and chocolate makers from industry companies will be seated for the class, but not just any… a class filled with delicious treats.
We found the candidates on Instagram, from Juan Gutierrez to Tyricia Clark. Let’s see what sweets they hold when they’re not spinning.

Juan is currently a pastry chef at the Adorn Bar & Restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, offering all the delicacies of the restaurant.
In addition to being nominated for a Jean Banchet Award and being crowned Chopped Sweets Champion, he is now on Chocolate School.
He previously worked as an Executive Pastry Chef at Virgin Hotels Chicago, from April 2019 to August 2020, and before that, for Longman & Eagle.
The candidate first tried his hand at medical school, but realizing it wasn’t his job, he later went to French Pastry School in Chicago.
It has since won several accolades, from Best Chocolate Showpiece and Best Dessert Table to World of Chocolate 2018.
Amanda is a Pastry Chef Instructor at the Culinary Institute of Michigan.
Prior to her current gentle role, she served in the United States Army, following in the footsteps of her parents and three brothers.
After leaving the military and graduating from college, she was asked to stay in school, where she is now a chief instructor.
She also teaches the baking and pastry arts with an emphasis on working with chocolate.
That’s not all, as Amanda has another job at Patricia’s Chocolates in Grand Haven, MI where she works as a pastry chef and chocolate maker.
Cedrick works as a pastry chef at a private club in Atlanta.
He recently lost 100 pounds and recently shared a transformation photo on his Instagram sporting a much leaner physique.
Despite this, he still hasn’t given up on his day job, which sometimes involves eating sugar. He currently works for the Capital City Club.
Coming from a military family, Cedrick spent part of his childhood in Germany, where he tasted the best pastries and chocolates.
He has worked at Le Cordon Bleu as a pastry chef, as well as at several top hotels, including The Whitley and Ritz-Carlton in Atlanta.
Daniel Joseph Corpuz
Daniel is inspired by his Filipino-American chocolate-making heritage and runs his own store, Daniel Corpuz Chocolatier.
The New York-based pastry chef, chocolatier and sugar artist first graduated from the Culinary Institute of America to launch his career.
He then obtained his associate degree in bakery and pastry making and his bachelor’s degree in food business administration in 2019.
After working in restaurants in New York, including The Modern at MoMA and Manhatta, he also appeared in numerous cake shows.
Of It takes the Cake Show, New York Cake Show, and National Capital Region Cake Show, he won more than a dozen first prizes.
Mellisa is a chocolate maker, consultant, judge and pastry chef from Virginia.
With encouragement from her mother, she first decided to pursue baking at CCA (California College of the Arts) in San Francisco.
She started out working for Laurant Branlard at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort, then moved to Houston.
There, Mellisa oversaw the baking at the River Oaks Country Club. She was then coached by world pastry champion Darrin Aoyama.
Her competitive streak saw her represent the United States at the Culinary Classic, where she and her team won multiple gold medals.
Stéphanie is a chocolate and pastry consultant, as well as in the development of products for the packaging of the CBD 6viand brand.
Based in Los Angeles, she also owns StephTheChef Sweets.
In addition, the candidate’s CV is Executive Pastry Chef of New Product Development at DISTINCT INDULGENCE, INC.
With over 14 years of experience in some of LA’s fine dining restaurants, resorts, bakeries and coffee shops, she has also led a pastry team for over six years.
Thiago, pastry chef and entrepreneur, discovered his love for baking when his mother asked him to help translate a recipe for her.
While he didn’t go to pastry school, he started his career working in different kitchens under different pastry chefs.
Thiago plans to open his own bakery and confectionery called SALT Patisserie, in Newton, Massachusetts, in early 2022.
He is also the father of two sons James and Jax, and married to their mother Caroline, founder of a children’s creative arts program in Newton.
The Netflix star has already put her skills to the test and made a two foot chocolate Elmo for her son’s second birthday!
Tyricia is a pastry chef who runs her own T Cakes dessert shop.
The Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based professional makes cookies, cakes and chocolate. She also leads courses and consultations for clients!
Currently looking for her next opportunity, Tyricia previously worked as a Pastry Chef at Sheraton Hotels & Resorts until September 2020.
Prior to that, the candidate worked for the Hilton as a pastry chef from October 2015 to November 2018.
