Three vegan and vegetarian restaurants in Bournemouth

TODAY October 1 is World Vegetarian Day, and if you want to opt for a “greener” side of life but don’t know where to dine locally, we’ve got you covered.

There is a range of restaurants across town that are vegetarian and vegan, but we’ve rounded up three restaurants that offer a purely meatless menu.

Crazy cucumber

7, The Triangle, Bournemouth.

“Food to satisfy even non-vegetarians.”

This is how the vegan restaurant Mad Cucumber was described in a recent review on TripAdvisor.

Mad Cucumber was created in 2013 by the couple Kamil and Ewelina and offers “100%” vegan cuisine.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, specialties and treats, as well as a range of drinks.

The Mad Cucumber also has a smoothie bar and bakes a variety of party cakes.

A review on the restaurant’s website reads: “My favorite vegan restaurant in Dorset a mile and a half away – Mad Cucumber is a great place.”

Mad Cucumber is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 9 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 9 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Twelve restaurant

12, The Triangle, Bournemouth.

This popular restaurant is well known for its organic approach to plant-based food and delicious cocktails.

The founders, Dalton Mello and Greg Rush opened Twelve for the first time in 2018 and have since received worldwide recognition for their work and offering at the restaurant.

Earlier this year, the 2021 Travelers’ Choice Awards named it one of the best vegan restaurants in the world.

Speaking in July, Greg said: “To be named one of the best in the world is just amazing and we are so proud.”

Twelve is centered on exciting and experimental dishes, with an emphasis on nutrition and good taste.

Powerful sausages

23 Poole Hill, Bournemouth.

Inspired by their travels across the United States, Mighty Wieners owners Kate Butterworth and her husband Chris Pepper opened the restaurant with the aim of “breaking down preconceptions about what people think vegan food should be.” “.

As the name suggests, Mighty Wieners serves vegan “smoked sausage” with a plethora of toppings.

Awesome burgers are also available, along with dirty sides, salads, and fries.

Kate and Chris extended their offering earlier this year with the introduction of Mighty Pizza, which serves vegan, American-style pizza, junk food. So there are plenty of finger-licking foods to choose from.

Kate said: “No one else is doing this in Bournemouth, not even really across the UK. We bring the flavors of the Mighty Wieners to the pizza eating experience. ”

The Mighty Wieners is open 10 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 10 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
